Rise Up and Sing—The Movie Documentary

We raised $5,000 in two months between Kickstarter.com and cash donations. Our success was a result of: a short professionally-edited Kickstarter campaign video, a "buzz" created before the campaign began, and the use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media.

The one lesson we learned with fundraising was to be more concerned with the cost and time required for the Kickstarter rewards. We had promised the rewards would be received by a specific date. In the end we were nearly seven months late. In addition, we underestimated the cost for producing and distributing the rewards (DVDs, posters, etc.).
